All-new Kiwi race circuit will put Manukau on the map

A 1.2 km ‘stadium’ offroad race circuit will be the first of its kind in New Zealand when it opens in early 2021.

Developed by Counties Manukau Offroad Race Club in partnership with the Auckland Council and Papatoetoe-Otara Local Board, the Manukau International Offroad Raceway at Colin Dale Park is up to 18 metres wide and features cambered corners, ‘pop-up’ jumps and 20-degree berms built by a professional race track building company.

It has been a 13 year project for one man in particular, national champion Kevin Hall (pictured).

A massive $300,000 drainage system is set beneath the ‘terraformed’ surface, helping the circuit shrug off patchy Auckland weather.

The circuit is part of a dedicated motorsport or ‘wheelsport’ park that includes jet sprint boats and motocross and will soon add a world class BMX facility and kartsport - replacing the recently closed Mount Wellington course. Spectator facilities include a grassed embankment with space for pop-up shelter tents; food area, safe ‘bouncy world’ area for younger children and spectator vantage points that allow a view of the whole track.

An 800-space sealed car park has been completed by Auckland Council to service all of the categories that will use the park. It has been designed so that parking can be expanded when it is required

The circuit will open with a two-round stadium championship event featuring the fastest race cars and trucks in the sport. There will also be races for the sport's youth category, Kiwitrucks.
